Mesa-native designs, creates wearable fantasy art

With the popularity of the fantasy genre as well as things magical in pop culture, Mesa native Kallissa Kristine Swann has created not only a means of celebrating them but also of wearing them.

Swann, a jewelry maker, has teamed with Phoenix’s Nancy Johnson and Jay Nixon of Drakey Art to launch By KK Swann, a handcrafted necklace-design business.

Each unique piece features a print from Drakey Art depicting mystical creatures, butterflies, flowers and other otherworldly beings.

“My mission is to design jewelry that is unique and lets people feel whimsical when they wear it,” Swann said. “The idea was to take my favorite art off the wall and on the go with me, so I could easily show it off.”

Founded this year, By KK Swann is an online jewelry boutique specializing in handcrafted pendants featuring original artwork and wire-wrapped, beaded necklaces. The jewelry is customizable to fit unique styles so the customer can feed whimsy anywhere.

The necklaces, for example, can be customized to suit each pendant’s shape and setting, and each comes with beaded chain, ribbon cord or regular chain. The necklace length also is adjustable to suit every neckline. Prices start at $20.

Fantasy Art Pendants by KK Swann can be ordered online at or through the Etsy shop ByKKSwann.
